For the second straight game, Pacheco will face off against Central Valley. The Panthers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pacheco is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Pacheco is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Central Valley just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 8-1 to the Hawks. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
For Central Valley's part, Noah Maldonado made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Maldonado also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Central Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Maldonado was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
In other pitching news, Isaac Lopez looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Adrian Vega, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Isaias Valdovinos also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Central Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pacheco only posted a batting average of .115.
The win got Central Valley back to even at 4-4. As for Pacheco, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Pacheco's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Central Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pacheco continue to outrun the ball?
