The Hesperia Scorpions will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Hills Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hesperia is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 34 to 13 on the offensive boards, a fact Hesperia proved on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-41 victory over Sultana.
Berlynn Miramontes was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 34 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Annabel Sanchez, who scored four points along with 16 rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Oak Hills' good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a serious blow against Rosary Academy, falling 72-44. While losing is never fun, Oak Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Rosary Academy is ranked 45th).
Hesperia is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season. As for Oak Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.
Hesperia strolled past Oak Hills in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 48-31. Does Hesperia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oak Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
