Everything went their way against Conemaugh Valley as Cambria Heights made off with a 62-38 win. Given Cambria Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 288th, while Conemaugh Valley is ranked 643rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sienna Kirsch continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. The game was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Gracey Vinglish was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Conemaugh Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Penelope Reininger. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Madison McCleester, who scored seven points.
The win makes it two in a row for Cambria Heights and bumps their season record up to 5-4. As for Conemaugh Valley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Cambria Heights will be playing in front of their home fans against Conemaugh Township at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Conemaugh Township focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. As for Conemaugh Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Northern Cambria at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northern Cambria comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
