The Algoma Wolves will venture away from home to square off against the Luxemburg-Casco Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Algoma is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Wrightstown just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2.
Charlie Prokash put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Prokash was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, Jonah Dahms was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Luxemburg-Casco entered their tilt with Waupaca on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Comets 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Algoma, Luxemburg-Casco also got a great game from a two-way player: Gavin Lax. He struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Lax has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Jacob Coisman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Dachelet, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Luxemburg-Casco kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Luxemburg-Casco's record is now 13-8. As for Algoma, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.
Algoma couldn't quite finish off Luxemburg-Casco when the teams last played back in April of 2025 and fell 8-6. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
