It was a good run, but the East Nicolaus Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Colusa by a score of 49-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat East Nicolaus has suffered yet this season.
East Nicolaus lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tiare Faupula, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Faupula has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Gillespie, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals.
It was another big night for Danica Chavez, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds for Colusa. Chavez hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Huskey, who scored 16 points.
East Nicolaus' loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Colusa, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.
East Nicolaus will head out on the road to face off against Willows at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Colusa, they will be playing at home against Winters at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Winters is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
