Baseball Recap: Credo Wins Going Away Against Sonoma Academy

Credo lost to Sonoma Academy on April 1st, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Gryphon put the hurt on the Coyotes with a sharp 8-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Gryphon, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Henry Humphreys made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Credo is undefeated when Humphreys posts three or more hits, but 4-10-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Thadeus Cole was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Carrey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Credo's record now sits at 8-10-1. As for Sonoma Academy, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 9-5.

Looking ahead, Credo will take on Willits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sonoma Academy, they will square off against Roseland Collegiate Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Coyotes are facing the Grizzlies at the right time seeing as the Grizzlies are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
