Having just played yesterday, the Monte Vista Mustangs will get right back to it and host the Amador Valley Dons at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Monte Vista entered their tilt with Dougherty Valley with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Monte Vista walked away with a 61-49 win over Dougherty Valley on Thursday. Given Monte Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Dougherty Valley is ranked 623rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alyssa Rudd and Rachel Brans were among the main playmakers for Monte Vista as the former dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds and the latter scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Rudd is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Naliyah Sefidi, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Amador Valley slipped by Dublin 49-48 on Thursday.
Monte Vista is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Amador Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 6-16.
Monte Vista didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Amador Valley in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win. Will Monte Vista repeat their success, or does Amador Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
