Will Totten can expect to see some extra defensive pressure on Friday when he leads
McKenzie (Finn Rock, Ore.) into its sixth 8-man football game of the season at Mapleton (Ore.).
Though the Eagles had an open date last weekend, they outlasted Lowell (Ore.) 88-80 on Sept. 30 in a game for the ages.

On that night Totten made history by completing 19 of 26 passes for 553 yards and a national-record 11 touchdowns. He also ran 15 times for 117 yards, including a spectacular 65-yard touchdown on an option.
No player at any level of high school football ever previously had thrown more than 10 touchdown passes in a game. Ten was the record for both 8- and 11-man football.
He also broke the national 8-man record of 541 passing yards in a single game. The combined team points broke the state record of 166.
The 6-foot, 165-pound senior quarterback, whose previous high was seven scoring tosses, has amassed 1,841 yards and thrown for 29 touchdowns while leading the Eagles to a 4-1 record. Totten has blossomed surprisingly after first-year head coach Neil Barrett switched the offense from a wing-T to a wide-open passing style with four wide receivers.
"We only threw about two times a game last year," Barrett, who then was an assistant, told MaxPreps. "It has kind of blown up this year. We throw a lot of quick passes and have some really good receivers."
Barrett is not totally surprised by Totten's big year. He explained, "I had an idea, because he is an intelligent kid – one of the smartest kids in school – that he would do well, but never imagined him throwing 11 touchdown passes in a game. He is very accurate and has a strong arm. It hasn't quite set in yet. We are just a small school (80 students in grades 9-12) and we're not used to getting this type of attention."

Kingman (Ariz.) defeated Flagstaff (Ariz.), 48-21. The 5-9, 165-pound senior now is tied for third in national history. The record is nine and one player has eight.

Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco) is believed to have set a national record when it returned five fumbles for touchdowns on Sept. 10 during a 56-7 rout of St. Mary's (Albany, Calif.).

Casey Cochran threw four touchdown passes — giving him a state-record 90 — as
Masuk (Monroe, Conn.) routed Barlow (Redding, Conn.), 55-12.

Chris Brown completed 36 of 63 passes for 438 yards and five touchdowns, but Bonney Lake (Wash.) still suffered a 48-45 loss to Peninsula (Gig Harbor, Wash.).

Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas) nipped West (Plano, Texas), 51-48, on
Drew Hamrick's 34-yard field goal in a four-overtime thriller. He also kicked a 53-yard field goal with three seconds left to force the first overtime.
