Baseball Recap: Woodland Christian Wins Going Away Against San Juan

While Woodland Christian put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for San Juan. The Cardinals blew past the Spartans 16-0. Considering the Cardinals have won 15 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jordan Villanueva and Gary Mann were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Villanueva pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Mann tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Villanueva scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Mann scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Villanueva has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jayden Badhesha was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Owen Tessier, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Woodland Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Woodland Christian's record now sits at 17-3. As for San Juan, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Woodland Christian will be taking part in a tournament against Chico at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. As for San Juan, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lindhurst at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd.
