The First Colonial Patriots's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Granby Comets at 5:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
First Colonial suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Kellam on the road and fell 83-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss First Colonial has suffered against Kellam since December 10, 2019.
Meanwhile, Granby took a serious blow against Lake Taylor on Friday, falling 53-23. While losing is never fun, Granby can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Lake Taylor is ranked 73rd).
First Colonial's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Granby, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-7.
Everything came up roses for First Colonial against Granby in their previous meeting back in January of 2020 as the team secured a 69-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for First Colonial since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
