After flying high against the Rancho Dominguez Lobos last Friday, the Gardena Panthers came back down to earth. Gardena received a tough blow on Wednesday as they fell 54-37 to Carson. Gardena was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Carson apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Leading Carson to victory were Faith Woodson and Monica Hayden. Woodson scored six points along with 16 rebounds and six assists, while Hayden dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hayden scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Jackson, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Gardena dropped their record down to 11-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Carson, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-10.
Gardena will be playing in front of their home fans against San Pedro at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Carson, they will head out on the road to challenge Banning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
