The Mira Loma Matadors struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Rio Linda Knights had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mira Loma was the victim of a tough 54-28 defeat at the hands of the Knights. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mira Loma in their matchups with the Knights: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the defeat, Mira Loma saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Ulep scored 11 points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rio Linda to victory, but perhaps none more so than Myunique Hill, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Mariah Walton was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Mira Loma's defeat dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Rio Linda, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mira Loma will take on the Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Casa Roble is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses. As for Rio Linda, they will be playing at home against the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodland has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
