Baseball Recap: Gridley Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Gridley had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They never let the Corning Cardinals get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Tanner Abbott made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Gridley is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise. Abbott was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Eli Punzo was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. Riley Engelmann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Gridley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Gridley's record now sits at 7-3. As for Corning, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8-1 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Gridley beat Corning by a score of 14-5 on Thursday.
