The Olympian Eagles struggled with assists on Monday (the Del Norte Nighthawks had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Olympian fell just short of Del Norte by a score of 52-50. Olympian has struggled against Del Norte recently, as their contest on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Olympian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Asia Darcuiel. Despite the final result, she scored 26 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Darcuiel scored a full 52% of Olympian's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Alyssa Agpaoa was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Bailey Barnhard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Del Norte, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 16 rebounds. The contest was Barnhard's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiana Cadigan, who scored six points.
Olympian now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Del Norte, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Olympian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Preuss UCSD at 9:30 a.m. on December 20th. Preuss UCSD is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Del Norte won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Eastlake at 5:00 p.m. on December 19th. Hopefully Eastlake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Saturday.
