In what's become a running theme this season, the Portage Mustangs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Cambria Heights 54-33. With Portage ahead 32-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Among those leading the charge was Ashlyn Hudak, who went 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Chobany, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Cambria Heights still got an impressive performance from Sienna Kirsch, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 54.5% of Cambria Heights' points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Portage pushed their record up to 16-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Cambria Heights, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
Portage won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Homer-Center at 7:15 p.m. on January 24th. Homer-Center will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Portage is ranked 35th). As for Cambria Heights, they will head out on the road to challenge Northern Cambria at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Northern Cambria is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
