The Conemaugh Township Indians struggled with assists on Wednesday (the United Lions had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Conemaugh Township was dealt a 51-20 defeat at the hands of the Lions. Conemaugh Township was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-6.
Despite the loss, Conemaugh Township saw an underclassman step up: Mayce Kordell scored no points along with five steals. Kordell hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
United's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mollee Fry, who scored 14 points along with four blocks. It was the first time this season that Fry posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Delaney Perrone, who scored ten points along with three blocks and two steals.
Conemaugh Township has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for United, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 16-4.
Conemaugh Township will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Highlanders at 7:15 p.m. As for United, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Portage is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
