After flying high against the Stella High Charter Academy Eagles on Wednesday, the Animo South Los Angeles Panthers came back down to earth. Animo South Los Angeles took a serious blow against New West Charter on Friday, falling 59-26. Animo South Los Angeles has not had much luck with New West Charter recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
New West Charter found their leader in underclassman Brissia Cruz, who scored 18 points. Cruz continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Polly Horowitz, who scored 8 points.
Animo South Los Angeles' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for New West Charter, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Animo South Los Angeles will take on Math & Science College Preparatory at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Math & Science College Preparatory is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for New West Charter, they will be playing at home against Foshay at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Foshay's defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so New West Charter's offense will have their work cut out for New West Charter.
