The River Valley Vikings had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against Pleasant by a score of 61-52. Given River Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Pleasant is ranked 137th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Carson Smith, who scored 27 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. Sawyer Weston was another key contributor, scoring 7 points along with 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
Pleasant's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lathan McCants, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson King, who scored 13 points.
Pleasant struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as River Valley pulled down 13.
River Valley's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Valley will face off against Jonathan Alder at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pleasant, they will head out on the road to face off against Northmor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Northmor focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Saturday.
