After losing to the Xavier Prep Saints the last time they met, the Shadow Hills Knights decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Shadow Hills narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Xavier Prep 56-54. Given Shadow Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Xavier Prep is ranked 210th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shadow Hills got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Victoria Hyatt out in front who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six blocks. The game was Hyatt's 17th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Skylah Archer, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Shadow Hills and bumps their season record up to 15-3. As for Xavier Prep, their loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-5.
Shadow Hills will head out on the road to face off against Palm Desert at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Palm Desert is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. As for Xavier Prep, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Palm Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
