The St. Paul Swordsmen will head out on the road to square off against the St. Anthony Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Paul will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 257th, while St. Anthony is ranked 25th).
Last Thursday, St. Paul came up short against St. Mary's Academy and fell 60-51. St. Paul has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony strolled past San Juan Hills with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 64-49. The win made it back-to-back wins for St. Anthony.
St. Anthony's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ryann Bennett, who scored 20 points along with five steals. Bennett hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Melaiah Joseph, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
St. Paul now has a losing record at 10-11. As for St. Anthony, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
St. Paul took their victory against St. Anthony in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 85-65. Will St. Paul repeat their success, or does St. Anthony have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
