Maywood Academy is 0-10 against Marquez since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Gladiators at 1:15 p.m. Marquez took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Maywood Academy, who comes in off a win.
Maywood Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Elizabeth get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.
Jacob Herrera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Maywood Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. Herrera was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Marquez fell victim to Maywood CES and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolfpack. The loss continues a trend for the Gladiators in their meetings with the Wolfpack: they've now lost six in a row.

Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Maywood Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Marquez struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maywood Academy might still be hurting after the 15-3 loss they got from Marquez when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
