After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McClatchy, the Grant Pacers were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They took down Monterey Trail 52-37. For Grant, this counts as revenge for the 47-36 loss Monterey Trail walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Grant found their leader in underclassman Asia Washington, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. Washington is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games she's played. Jalaysia Clements was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Grant's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.9 points per game. As for Monterey Trail, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Grant will head out on the road to take on Burbank at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Burbank will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1173rd, while Grant is ranked 105th). As for Monterey Trail, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Laguna Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
