The Gateway Christian Eagles will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the First Baptist Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m.
On January 9th, Gateway Christian came up short against River City Believers Academy and fell 42-35. Gateway Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, First Baptist Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They slipped by Gloria Deo Academy 43-42.
First Baptist Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Levine, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Napier, who scored 13 points.
Gateway Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for First Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Gateway Christian came up short against First Baptist Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 38-27. Can Gateway Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
