Callaway and Bremen are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cavaliers will welcome the Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Callaway is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, Callaway turned things around against Pepperell on Monday. They came out on top against the Dragons by a score of 6-1.
Jax Campbell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Bremen made easy work of Mt. Bethel Christian Academy on Tuesday and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Blue Devils have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Eli Brock looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Conner Helton and Bradon Beckwith did most of the damage at the plate: Helton went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Beckwith went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Helton a new career-high. Nolan Sosebee was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Bremen's victory bumped their record up to 24-4. As for Callaway, their win bumped their record up to 17-12.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Callaway has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Bremen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Callaway was able to grind out a solid victory over Bremen when the teams last played back in April of 2025, winning 6-3. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
