The Scholars Guild Academy Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the North Georgia HomeSchool Tribe at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scholars Guild Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully North Georgia HomeSchool likes a good challenge.
On Tuesday, Scholars Guild Academy made easy work of Skipstone Academy and carried off an 11-1 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Justin Whitfield made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Whitfield was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henry Rumble, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Scholars Guild Academy is undefeated when Rumble posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jacob Chupp, who scored a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Scholars Guild Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, North Georgia HomeSchool and Heritage Preparatory finished up their match with a 10-10 draw on Monday. Even though they lost, the Tribe's still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Scholars Guild Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. With that draw, North Georgia HomeSchool's record moves to 5-14-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Scholars Guild Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like North Georgia HomeSchool struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Scholars Guild Academy's way against North Georgia HomeSchool when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Scholars Guild Academy made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
