Basketball Recap: Arvin Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

If Garces Memorial wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Arvin, they should've done a better job of containing Rosario Flores. The Arvin Bears blew past the Garces Memorial Rams 46-16 on Tuesday thanks in part to Flores, who went 6 of 15 en route to 15 points and six steals. Those 15 points gave her a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Kimberly Ochoa, who posted five points in addition to five assists and five steals. Ochoa is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaliyah Acosta, who had two points along with eight boards and four steals.

With the win, Arvin broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-6. As for Garces Memorial, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Arvin wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 40-36 defeat against Independence on the 12th. As for Garces Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-21 loss against East Bakersfield on the 12th.
