The Aurora Greenmen came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Crestwood 64-48. This was payback for Aurora, who suffered a 80-72 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Despite the defeat, Crestwood had strong showings from Dekota Johnson, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds, and Charlie Schweickert, who scored 19 points. Johnson hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of James Durham, who scored no points along with ten rebounds and four blocks.
Aurora pushed their record up to 8-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Crestwood, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-2.
Aurora's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Tallmadge at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Tallmadge is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Crestwood, they will head out on the road to square off against Grand Valley at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Grand Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 635th, while Crestwood is ranked 175th).
