Needles waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They blew past the Lincoln County Lynx 11-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2024.
Hudson Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Needles' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5-1 when he doesn't). Smith was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
