The Van Nuys Wolves will face off against the Fremont Pathfinders at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Van Nuys comes in on five and Fremont on three.
Van Nuys is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Everything went their way against Roybal as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jonathan Garcia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Van Nuys is 6-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Garcia was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Van Nuys got a massive performance out of Alejandro Diaz, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Diaz also scored two runs, which is notable because the Wolves are undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Matthew Herrera was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Van Nuys always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Fremont posted their closest win since May 13, 2025 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Gardena, sneaking past 4-3.
Van Nuys' victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Fremont, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
Van Nuys got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 against Fremont by a conclusive 15-3 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Pathfinders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
