The Hammond Tornadoes lost against the Ponchatoula Green Wave back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Hammond took a serious blow against Ponchatoula, falling 79-45. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hammond in their matchups with Ponchatoula: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Tornadoes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charles Armstrong, who scored nine points along with three steals. Armstrong is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joseph Carbo, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Hammond's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 12-8. As for Ponchatoula, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2.
Hammond will be playing at home against Belle Chasse at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Belle Chasse has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 390 points over their last six matches. As for Ponchatoula, they will head out on the road to face off against Liberty Magnet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty Magnet will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
