After two games on the road, West is heading back home. They will take on the East Bakersfield Blades at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
West suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were outmatched by Yucca Valley on the road and fell 66-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caleigh Adams, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 77.8% of West's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Nala Roberts Wright was another key contributor, scoring a point along with 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, East Bakersfield unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They took a serious blow against Tehachapi, falling 60-24. While losing is never fun, East Bakersfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 811th, while Tehachapi is ranked 153rd).
West's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for East Bakersfield, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9.
Everything came up roses for West against East Bakersfield in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 57-28 win. Does West have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Bakersfield turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
