Having just played yesterday, the Foothill Knights will jump right back in to play the West Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Foothill is hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-37, which was the final score in Foothill's tilt against Irvine on Thursday. Foothill has not had much luck with Irvine recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Foothill saw an underclassman step up: Elize McAveney scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was McAveney's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Wert, who scored four points.
West has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 27 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 65-24 stomp they got on the road against United Christian Academy. Winning may never get old, but West sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Foothill has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for West, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.
