Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Eaton + How To Watch

Eaton came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Berthoud Spartans a 10-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Reds, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Johanna Galvan was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024.

In other batting news, Emma Anderson and Brooklynn Minne did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Minne went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Minne a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Hofer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Eaton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 16 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Eaton's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Berthoud, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eaton will challenge Severance at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Berthoud, they will square off against Greeley Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.75 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
