The Biggs Wolverines are taking a road trip to challenge the Hamilton Braves at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Biggs is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Biggs' tournament run continued when they took on Los Molinos on Saturday. The Wolverines lost 14-4 to the Bulldogs. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly ten runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hamilton). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Williams a 30-0 shutout last Thursday. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Antonio Jauregui was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Daniel Leal was a standout: he got on base in all six of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (four). Patrick Matthews was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Hamilton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive games.
Hamilton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.8 runs over those games. As for Biggs, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Biggs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hamilton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Biggs couldn't quite get it done against Hamilton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
