The Cardinal Newman Cardinals will challenge the Windsor Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Cardinal Newman sitting on six straight victories and Windsor on 11.
Cardinal Newman barely beat Rancho Cotate the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-1 win on Wednesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Cardinals' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Josh Jannicelli spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Caden Owen was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Bromstad, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Cardinal Newman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Cotate only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Windsor challenged Ukiah on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 1-0 shutout. That's two games straight that the Jaguars have won by just one run.
Not much got past Adrian Rosiles, who gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Ukiah off the board.
On the hitting side, Windsor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roman Torres, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Windsor pushed their record up to 19-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.17 runs across that stretch. As for Cardinal Newman, their record now sits at 15-10.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cardinal Newman has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Windsor struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
