The Monache Marauders scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Mission Oak with a sharp 61-41 win. Monache's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Monache got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Milly Rojas out in front who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Rojas hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Alisha Verdejo was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven steals.
When it comes to explaining why Mission Oak lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isabella Zepeda. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Zepeda is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelyn Serpa, who scored nine points.
Monache pushed their record up to 6-0 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.7 points per game. As for Mission Oak, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monache will take on Ridgeview at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgeview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 508th, while Monache is ranked 22nd). As for Mission Oak, they will play host again and welcome Golden West, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Golden West has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
