Northwestern and Seneca are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but not for long. The Northwestern Wildcats will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Seneca Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northwestern waltzed into their match on Thursday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They claimed a resounding 52-25 win over Girard at home. Given Northwestern's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while Girard is ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northwestern found their leader in underclassman Makayla Presser-palmer, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Presser-palmer has scored at least a third of Northwestern's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Schwartz, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Seneca took their matchup on the road on Monday with ease, bagging a 49-16 win over Iroquois. The victory was just what Seneca needed coming off of a 63-38 loss in their prior match.
Northwestern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Seneca, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Northwestern was able to grind out a solid win over Seneca in their previous meeting back in January, winning 52-43. Does Northwestern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Seneca turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
