Basketball Recap: Middle Creek Falls Despite Big Games from Sarah Grace Furst and Alysia Pergerson

Middle Creek was the 69-51 winner over Holly Springs when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The Middle Creek Mustangs fell 47-37 to the Holly Springs Golden Hawks on Tuesday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Middle Creek had strong showings from Alysia Pergerson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals, and Sarah Grace Furst, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Pergerson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Koa Pa'U, who posted five points.

Amy Lissow had a dynamite game for Holly Springs, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lissow a new career-high in steals (five). Lydia Thomas was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points and six rebounds.

Middle Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Holly Springs, they moved to 4-7 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Middle Creek didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-39 loss against Rocky Mount on the 26th. As for Holly Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 68-31 defeat against Seaforth on the 20th.
