The Everett Alvarez Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Everett Alvarez will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Everett Alvarez turned things around against North Monterey County on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Condors 6-4. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Condors on their field since April 29, 2022.

Ivan Chavez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Everett Alvarez is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-10 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cody Victoriano, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Monte Vista Christian entered their tilt with Rancho San Juan on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Trailblazers with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Mustangs have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Monte Vista Christian also let their pitcher toss all six innings played and he was also dialed-in: Chris Bautista gave up only one earned run on six hits and racked up ten Ks. Bautista has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brady Cortez was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Parker Brown, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Monte Vista Christian pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Everett Alvarez, their record now sits at 9-12.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Everett Alvarez has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. However, it's not like Monte Vista Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .471. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everett Alvarez might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Monte Vista Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
