Baseball Recap: Live Oak Takes a Loss

Live Oak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Del Mar Dons. That's two games in a row now that the Acorns have lost by just one run.

Jonah Chattha stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. He is becoming a predictor of Live Oak's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-14 when he doesn't). Jordan Tabag was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Live Oak's loss dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Del Mar, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-19.

While Live Oak had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
