Sacramento Country Day had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 3-7 to make it four. They fell just short of the Buckingham Charter Knights by a score of 7-5. If the Cavaliers were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to the Knights when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ryan Scripps was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Sacramento Country Day: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Max Weitzman was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Pirie, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
As for Buckingham Charter, they moved to 5-10 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 1st.
Like Sacramento Country Day, Buckingham Charter also got a great game from a two-way player: Wyatt Griffin. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Griffin a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, earning three RBI, three runs, and five stolen bases.
Griffin wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jake Loos, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
While Sacramento Country Day had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
