The Leroy Greene Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 60-8 loss at the hands of John Adams Academy. While losing is never fun, Leroy Greene Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1301st, while John Adams Academy is ranked 623rd).
John Adams Academy found their leader in underclassman Elliott Schwartz, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 15 steals. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Schwartz has scored at least a third of John Adams Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Cammarota, who scored nine points along with five assists and five steals.
Leroy Greene Academy's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11. As for John Adams Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leroy Greene Academy will face off against Elite at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leroy Greene Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for John Adams Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Westlake Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westlake Charter is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
