Richfield is 0-9 against DeLaSalle since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Richfield Spartans will look to defend their home court against the DeLaSalle Islanders at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Richfield posted their closest victory yet this season on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Roosevelt and snuck past 38-36.
Richfield can attribute much of their success to Zarihana Rennie, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and four blocks. Rennie is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniiya Johnson, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, even though Mahtomedi scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, DeLaSalle still came out on top. DeLaSalle took their contest against Mahtomedi 80-69. Given DeLaSalle's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Mahtomedi is ranked 84th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Richfield's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for DeLaSalle, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
