Baseball Recap: Hamilton Has No Trouble Against Portola

Hamilton lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Portola, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Braves blew past the Tigers 11-0 on Friday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Braves this season.

Kayden Strong and Patrick Matthews did most of the damage at the plate: Strong went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Matthews went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs Matthews has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Leal, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hamilton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Hamilton's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Portola, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hamilton beat Portola by a score of 23-3 later that day.
