Given Segerstrom's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Westminster is ranked 1094th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Stephanie Valenciano was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Faith Ledesma, who scored seven points along with four blocks and three steals.
Segerstrom's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Westminster, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Segerstrom will take on Katella at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westminster, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ocean View at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
