The Middletown Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They fell just short of Lincoln by a score of 43-41. While losing is never fun, Middletown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Rhode Island basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while Lincoln is ranked eighth).
Despite the loss, Middletown had strong showings from Ella Bolano, who scored 15 points, and Francesca Goldman, who scored 15 points. That was a full 36.6% of Middletown's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Middletown bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown will take on Toll Gate at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincoln, they will head out on the road to challenge Narragansett at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
