The Willits Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Kelseyville Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Willits is hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Willits came up short against Lower Lake and fell 50-40.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elena Arkelian, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Cecily Potter, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Willits smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Kelseyville has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a rough 53-26 loss at the hands of Fortuna. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Kelseyville has suffered yet this season.
Willits has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Kelseyville, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Willits suffered a grim 43-22 defeat to Kelseyville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Willits avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
