The Incarnate Word Academy Red Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Ursuline Academy Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Incarnate Word Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Incarnate Word Academy let St. Charles West stack five runs on them in the seventh inning on Monday but luckily Incarnate Word Academy prevailed anyway. The Red Knights came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 9-6.
Layla Portis made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Incarnate Word Academy got a massive performance out of Makenna Brannam, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave Brannam a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mary Kling, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Incarnate Word Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Charles West only managed nine.
Meanwhile, Ursuline Academy fell victim to Cor Jesu Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to the Chargers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Incarnate Word Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Ursuline Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Everything went Incarnate Word Academy's way against Ursuline Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Incarnate Word Academy made off with a 15-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
