The Fairbury Jeffs's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-35 win over Centennial. This was payback for Fairbury, who suffered a 37-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Fairbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Izzy Ohlde led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. Ohlde is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Eliza Kroeker, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
The victory got Fairbury back to even at 3-3. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairbury is on the road again on Friday and play against Crete at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Crete focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday. As for Centennial, they will head out on the road to face off against Milford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Milford presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Centennial in Nebraska (Milford is ranked 28th, while Centennial is ranked 86th).
