The Saint Francis Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They fell to Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory 66-60. Even though they lost, Saint Francis' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Saint Francis' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allison Dauer, who scored 19 points. It was the first time this season that Dauer scored 15 or more points. Maia Jimenez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Saint Francis' defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 14-8. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Saint Francis will head out on the road to square off against Presentation at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saint Francis is facing Presentation at the right time seeing as Presentation is stuck on a eight-game losing streak. As for Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-44 win vs. St. Ignatius College Preparatory on the 10th.
